By
Adeed I. Dawisha and Karen Dawisha
From Foreign Affairs, May/June 2003
Summary: What follows the war in Iraq will be at least as important as the war itself. Nurturing democracy there after Saddam won't be easy. But it may not be impossible either. There
is no time to be lost in restoring the Iraqi state. As the pieces are already
there, why waste so many long and difficult months in unprofitable debate,
when a viable Constitution already exists?
Cousin Of Last Iraqi King Says Monarchy Would Provide Stability
Valentinas Mite, (RFE/RL) Dec,1 2003

tyranny and oppression. Such leaders would be well-suited to begin the
process that would in time lead to genuinely free and fair elections, sound
amendments to the 1925 Iraqi Constitution, and the election of a truly
representative governing body.
